Two years after the commercial success of the film “Jurassic World: Dominion,” Universal Pictures has begun working on a new installment of the legendary dinosaur franchise, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The screenplay for the new sequel is being written by David Koepp, who penned the script for the original “Jurassic Park” film from 1993, as well as its sequel, “Jurassic Park: The Lost World,” from 1997.

The film currently doesn’t have a director, but it is known that Frank Marshall, who worked on the “Jurassic World” trilogy, will be producing the new installment. Patrick Crowley, another veteran of the Jurassic world, is also producing the film. Steven Spielberg will assume the role of executive producer with his production company, Amblin Entertainment.

According to sources, the film is expected to usher in a new era for the popular franchise. This suggests that among the cast, we may not see stars from “Jurassic World” such as Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, nor the stars from the original “Jurassic Park” trilogy—Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters in 2025.

The “Jurassic Park” franchise is one of the most successful in the history of Universal Pictures. In 30 years, the studio has released six films that have collectively earned more than 6 billion dollars. Even the lowest-rated films in the franchise, “Jurassic World: Dominion” and “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” were significant commercial hits.
